Special
night at Meridian
Meridian Speedway will present the first of four Racing For Smiles
events tonight as part of its regular racing card.
Brian Martin, a 15-year-old with cerebral palsy, his mother Wanda and
younger brother Johnny, will be the guests of honor at the speedway.
The family will tour the pits and, meet drivers, receive gifts from
local merchants and ride in the pace car prior to the races.
Racing For Smiles is a national organization that has been giving
children with life-threatening illnesses and their families special
nights at the races since 1997, according to Jim Wells, a Meridian Late
Model Lite racer who is coordinating the speedway's efforts.
